Yummy....Not so much!

Jake tried rice cereal for the first time. Needless to say, he did NOT like it. We got him to take one bite and swallow, and after that he kept his mouth shut tight!!! Nothing was going to get past him! A couple of times we snuck one past the goalie, but he would promptly spit it out. We will continue to practice, but if he still doesn't like it after a few more weeks, we are going to try an oatmeal based cereal. I really don't blame him! That rice cereal smells awful!! Here are a couple of pics of Jake sitting in his highchair. He is such a big boy!
Jake is more interested in eating his bib than the cereal :)
Jake has become a superstar at tummy time! Look at that head control!

Let's Play!!!

Sorry the pics are a little fuzzy! It's hard to get Jake to hold still long enough to take a picture :) Here is Jake playing on his play mat. He likes to grab onto the toys and put them straight into his mouth. He also loves playing in his jumperoo! He has mastered getting the piano to play music. It is cute because he will get excited and make the jumperoo move up and down a little. He enjoys it, but he hasn't quite figured out that he is the one making it move! Jake has grown so much taller that he no longer needs me to put anything under his feet when he is in the jumperoo. He is long enough to reach the floor by himself! Here is a picture of him right before bed. He is so long now!! Jake loves 'telling stories.' He is so cute because he makes eye contact with you and babbles away! He loves talking to Jason after his bath at night. Last but not least, our little guy is about to get his first tooth! I can see it just under his gums. I'm hoping that it pops through soon because it's really starting to hurt the poor lil' guy :( Especially when he tries to eat. As soon as it comes in, I will post a picture!

4 Months Old!!

Posted by Picasa

Jake turned 4 months old on 8/2!! I can't believe how big he is getting!! He had another physical therapy appointment on Wednesday, and his PT said that Jake's progress was so good that we don't have to bring him in anymore!! His torticollis is barely noticeable now, and his PT said that as soon as the muscles in his back strengthen a little more, it will be all gone. We still have to continue the stretches at home, but he said that Jake's head control is excellent for his age and the progress Jake has made in the last 2 weeks is amazing!

The next day, Thursday, we had Jake's 4 month check up. It was funny when the nurse put Jake on the scale. She looked at our doctor and asked if that could be right. Jake weighed in at 14 lbs 5 oz!!! He is also 25 inches long!!! Such a big, strong boy!! He did really well during his appointment, and he was even talking and cooing away at our doc. Well, until it came time to hold him down for his shots. Poor little guy!!! I had to step out of the room, and Jason stayed with him!! I just can't handle it! At his 2 month appointment, I cried more than Jake did :( We got the go ahead to start Jake on cereal, but we haven't yet. Our memory card for our camera bit the dust (hence why there aren't a ton of new pics of Jake lately). We are ordering a new one online, but I don't want to not have pictures of his first attempts at eating solids!!
Jake has recently gone through a developmental growth spurt. He has become so much more aware of his surroundings!! He is very alert now and is really starting to get into playing with a few toys. The downside of this is that he is starting to wake up multiple times at night and fighting his naps during the day because he wants to 'play'. He has been doing this for about a week now, so Jason and I are starting to get pretty sleep deprived. We have been researching some different sleep teaching methods. Hopefully this is a phase that Jake will get through on his own, but right now it doesn't look like it.

We have started to have some work done on the outside of the house. Our trees were all so overgrown, so we hired a tree trimmer. They trimmed the trees in the front, side of the house, and in the backyard. We also had the big pine that was half dead in the front yard removed. It makes such a difference!! We planted grass seed yesterday, and over the next week, we will be over-seeding the whole yard! Jason is also starting to research roofers in the area, so we will be getting a new roof soon too!
